Solar installed but not saving in Cape Town?

Before investing in more equipment, understand where your electricity spend is going. Enviro Energetics helps Cape Town homeowners review existing solar systems, from our Table View base. A review starts with your bills and system records, not an assumption that you need a bigger system.

Compare electricity units as well as the rand total

Compare the kWh bought from the grid over similar billing periods before and after installation. A higher tariff, fixed daily charges, a longer billing period or increased household demand can change the rand total even when grid purchases fall. Separate electricity usage from fixed charges before drawing conclusions.

Check generation against the season and conditions

Review daily and monthly generation in your inverter app. Shorter winter days, weather, new shading, soiling and system downtime can affect production. Record any missing data or error messages. Panel nameplate capacity is not a promise of daily energy output, and one sunny day is not a reliable annual comparison.

Look at when you use electricity

A system can generate well during the day while your household buys grid electricity in the evening. Compare consumption, grid imports and battery charging where your monitoring system records them. Water heating, cooking, pool pumps and new appliances can change the picture. Moving a suitable load to daytime may help, but should fit your household and installation.

Understand the battery reserve and operating mode

Battery settings may keep energy aside for an outage rather than use it to reduce grid purchases. Check the displayed operating mode, reserve percentage, charge schedule and any warnings, then share screenshots with us. Do not change protection settings or assume a low displayed battery percentage means a fault. We assess the equipment, backup priorities and settings together.

Prepare a short evidence pack

Bring recent electricity bills and comparable older bills if available, generation and consumption summaries, the inverter and battery model names, any error messages, and a description of what changed. Never send app passwords or login codes. Unknown model details are not a barrier to asking for an inspection.

Choose the next step from the findings

A review may identify a billing question, a monitoring gap, a usage or settings issue, maintenance needs, or work requiring an on-site assessment. Extra panels or storage are considered only when they address the identified need and are compatible. We confirm the review scope, any inspection fee and appointment availability before work proceeds. Savings and backup duration are not guaranteed.
